Taking Control of Shropshire

in May 2025

The Lib Dems could take control of Shropshire Council from the Conservatives at the Council elections in May 2025

The Liberal Democrats are the largest opposition to the Conservatives on Shropshire Council. At the most recent elections, in July 2024, the Liberal Democrats got the most votes across the three Shropshire constituencies.

The Conservatives who have made a mess of running the council for so many years are now rattled. They know the Lib Dems could wrestle control of Shropshire Council from them at the Council elections in May 2025.

At the General Election in July, across the three constituencies of South Shropshire, North Shropshire and Shrewsbury, the Liberal Democrats received 48,940 votes, the Conservatives were second on 40,108 votes and Labour were third with 33,294 votes.
